This print is the result of Transubstantiation: Performance on Paper. Red dye, red ink, etching, aquatint, embossment and lips impression are on the surface of the paper as a result of rituals that refer to the eucharist, childbirth, menstruation, self-cutting and surgery. A parallel is drawn between the paper and my skin and a dialogue between anatomical tradition and the performative body occurs. The etching tools are used as surgical instruments emphasising the link between representation and surgery, and the objectification of the body is enacted and subverted by the female agent body in performance.
The wound plays the mayor role, it is where all meanings intersect: where the skin breaks, the lips open, the blood flows.
