Following the story of Adam and Eve, I created this design for two thaumatropes. " A thaumatrope is a toy that was popular in Victorian times. A disk or card with one picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to combine into a single image due to persistence of vision." (wikipedia) Woman Sinner when twirled reveals the truth of woman's nature: the stigma of the original sin, the blame attached to every woman since then. In contrast, Super Man alludes to the heroic character attached to masculinity, the strength, vigor and benevolence. These positive and negative connotations are inscribbed in the body, it is the woman's body on itself that is perceived as sinful and sexual and the man's muscles and sexuality seen as innately powerful.
